Trade War - US Reciprocal Tariff Negotiations with China and Canada Set Deadlines for Agreement

Recent tariff negotiations between the US, China, and Canada show signs of progress. China and the US reached a framework deal with reduced tariffs and export concessions, while US-Canada talks aim to integrate trade with broader security and regulatory cooperation.

China and Canada once took a hardline stance against US reciprocal tariffs, leading to deadlocked tariff negotiations, but progress began in June. In early June, negotiations between the US and China became the focus, with both countries reaching a temporary "ceasefire" agreement, hoping to sign a formal agreement before August 10. Following meetings between US-China trade representatives, US and Canadian representatives met during the G7 summit, setting a "deadline" for signing a tariff agreement.

The US suspended new tariffs on multiple countries starting in April, but set a 90-day deadline (until July 8-9) to pressure them and facilitate agreements.
